- Test 1: The test will cover chapters
14–16, and will include three conceptual questions and three
2-part problems (approximately one per chapter, but some questions/problems
may involve concepts from more than one chapter). As practice, you
can use questions and problems from tests given last year (PDF file
or RTF format). Summaries of the
concepts and equations for each of those chapters are:
Chapter
14 (all sections except for
14-8, the Doppler effect)
Chapter 15 (all
sections)
Chapter 16 (all
sections except for 16-4, refraction).
A 6-page pdf file of what I wrote in class during the
review session of Thursday, February 25th, is posted here.
The problems I talked about are 14-36, 14-48, 15-32, 15-34, 15-54,
16-12, 16-56
and 16-29. Additional suggested problems on those chapters (in addition
to the ones we solved in class and as part of the homewrk assignments)
are:
14-15, 14-37, 14-51
15-25, 15-37, 15-53
16-7, 16-15, 16-31.
- Test 2: The test will cover chapters
17–19, and will include four questions and three 2-part problems
(approximately one per chapter, but some
questions/problems
may involve concepts from more than one chapter). As practice, you
can use questions and problems from tests given last year (PDF file
or RTF format).
A 6-page pdf file of what I wrote in class during the review session
of Tuesday, March 27th, is posted here.
The problems/questions I talked about are 17-52, 18-46, 19-54 and
19-66 (and I added another part to problem 19-66). The equations
and numbers you need to know, and additional suggested problems on
those chapters (in addition to the ones we
solved in
class and
as
part
of the homewrk
assignments) are also listed in those pages.
- Final Exam: The exam will include 3-4 questions
and 3-4 problems on material from test 1 (chapters 14–16) and
test 2 (chapters 17–19), plus 4-5 questions and 4-5 problems
on the most recent part of the
course (chapters
20–23).
The problems will be single-part. Overall, you may expect 8 pages, each containing
a question and a 1-part problem.
A 9-page pdf file of what I wrote in class during the review session
of Thursday, May 3rd, is posted here.
I hope to add review pages on individual chapters soon.
