12/7 -- Here are the solutions for Test 2.  I am still grading but hope to have that wrapped up by noon Wed.

Here are solutions to the HW in Chap. 6: 6.2, 6.6, 6.15.

Some info about the Final:
* Thursday 8-11 AM in our classroom
* Open book, closed notes
* Cumulative, but a larger focus on Chap. 6
* Similar format as Test 1.  Length will be about the same.

I am around this week if you have questions, but have visitors Tuesday and will be hard to pin down.
11/27 -- I have posted the screencast of the last lecture in Chap 6 in the shared Box folder (https://olemiss.box.com/Phys709ScreenCasts) The password is the same as for lecture notes.

Don't forget to turn in your Chap 6 HW by Tuesday afternoon to Ms. Barnes in the Physics office.

Test 2 on Chaps. 4 & 5 will be on Thursday in class.  It will be open book but closed notes.  Format will be similar to last time, but length will be shorter.  I will be traveling until Wed. afternoon (so Tuesday class is canceled), but you can email me questions if you have them - I will do my best to respond.
11/16 -- There will be one HW in Chap. 6 which will be due Tuesday 12/1.  The problems will be:  6.2, 6.6, 6. 15 in Fetter.

Here are the solutions for FW5.1, FW5.6, FW5.8, and FW5.9.

I assumed you all got the Chap. 6 notes from the Box share, but here they are if you didn't.

Also, the Chap. 4 solutions are here: 4.1, 4.3, 4.8, and 4.13
11/5 -- Your next HW will be FW5.8 and FW5.9 and will be due Thursday 11/12 in class.
I am having trouble with the screencast video but will get it posted over the weekend. See you in class on Tuesday.
10-26 -- Here are the solutions for Test 1.  Let me know if you have any questions.

If you have not already downloaded the Chap. 5 Lecture notes, here they are.

Don't forget your HW06 is due on Tuesday.  HW07 in Chap 5 will be FW5.1 and FW 5. 6.  These will be due Tuesday 11/3.
10-12 -- Reminder that class is canceled for Tuesday 10/13 to give you a break after the test.

I am assigning some homework for Chapter 4 which will be due a week from Thursday 10/22.  This will be the only assignment for Chap. 4:
4.1, 4.3, 4.8, and 4.13.
10-9 --  -- Here are solutions for HW05: FW3.6, FW3.7, FW3.8

-- Reminder that Test 1 will be on Monday night from 6:30 up to 9:30 in our classroom.  It will cover Chap. 1-3 and will be open book (our book) and closed notes.  The format will be 3-4 Conceptual questions and 3 problems. Integrable tables will be provided. Please come to the back door at NCPA.
10-2 -- --We are beginning Chapter 4 next week.  Here are the Chapter 4 Lecture Notes.

--Reminder I will be out of town next Monday-Wednesday.  I have recorded a screen cast for Tuesdays lecture.  You can download the .mp4 file here. You will need to enter the same password as is used for lecture notes and HW solutions.

--We decided to move Test 1 to Monday Oct. 12 from 6:30-9:30 in our classroom.  If you are one of the few who can not make that time, it is important that you see me about when you can take it - that Monday afternoon is preferable.

--Here are the solutions for HW04: FW3.1, FW3.3, FW3.4

-- I am also posting the Mathematica script which solves the cart-pendulum-spring problem.  You will need to have Mathematica installed to run it.
9-29 -- I am assigning a few more problems in Chap. 03. HW05 is: : FW3.6, FW3.7, FW3.8  These will be due next Thursday (10/8).

Here are solutions for HW03: FW2.3, FW2.4, FW2.5

Some other class notes:
1. I will be traveling the next 2 Tuesdays.  Next Tuesday I will post a screen cast of the lecture.  There will be a link to download the video. You will not need to come to class that day.  The following Tuesday (10/13), Sumudu will lecture.
2. I am going to postpone Test 1 (Chap. 1-3) until the week of Oct. 12.  We will need to find a suitable evening to come together for the test.
9-24 -- Here are the problems for HW04 in Chapter 3:  FW3.1, FW3.3, FW3.4
These will be due next Thursday.
9-15 -- Here are some new handouts for you:

You may want to download and install Mathematica. The University has a site license for it.  You can acquire it by logging in to "myOlemiss", going to "Tools", and then "Software". There are instructions there for installing and obtaining the license.
The "0th" Problem Set is a simple Introductory physics problem due Thurs. Aug. 27.

Welcome to Physics 709.
This is the page to which you should refer most often. It is where I will post homework assignments, make announcements, post test scores and distributions, and will be my primary mode of communication with you (other than lectures of course!). Make sure to take a good look at the course syllabus and lecture schedule and let me know if there is anything you do  not understand.
