School Science Speaker Program
What is gravity? How are ultrasounds used in medicine? What jobs can physicists do? If you are a teacher or run a non-profit organization, now your students and affiliates can get an answer to these questions from real scientists at your institution! The Department of Physics and Astronomy of the University of Mississippi brings scientists to your school or organization to give talks about science and meet your community. Presentations range from simple talks and hands-on demonstrations for young children to TED-like talks on current research in physics.

Invite a scientist!

The list below contain names and presentation topics of UM scientists who are willing to visit organizations in North Mississippi and nearby region. If you are an educator or belong to a non-profit organization in these areas, you may contact us to arrange for a visit of one of these scientists. While it may not be possible to honor all requests, we will strive to meet any and all of them. If the speaker of your choice is not available, we will try and arrange for an alternative speaker.
