Course Resources
Dr. Gladden
- Physics Education Technology (PhET)
This is a very nice collection of simulations for a wide variety
of topics in Physics. The project is out of a group at the University
of Colorado. I will show a number of them in class and
encourage you to spend some time with them on your own. By
"playing around", you are building your physical intuition which goes a
long way to help your understanding. You will need to have Java
and Flash installed and working on your computer.

- PLUS | Physics 214
Section 4 student login page
This is a web based resource budled with the Touger book. Much of
the homework assignments will be done on this system. It is nice
because of the dynamic (and real time) help with homework
problems. You must register with the system using the code
included with your textbook. I've posted some instructions (PDF file)
on how to register.
- Physlets
[You will have access to this
later in the semester.]
Physlets are another simulation package from a group at Davidson
College. The simulations are a bit less "engaging", but cover a
wider variety of topics and have several levels depending on the
goal (i.e. just understanding a topic, testing yourself,
...). I have posted a local copy
on my web site. To ensure you are registered for this course, you
will have to enter your name and UM student ID# to gain access since
there are some copywrite issues.
- Clicker
Registration Page
[This page is disabled for
Phys 214. See me personally if you need to register your clicker]
I need the number on the back of your clicker (which came with your
textbook) so I can associate your clicker with your name. I have
posted a simple form for you to register your clicker with me.
The proper number is in a white box on the back of your clicker remote.
