Welcome to Physics 212 with Dr. GladdenGladden Head Shot

Physics 211/212 is the introductory calculus based physics course for students majoring in the physical sciences and engineering.  For the 2nd semester we will be covering: electricity and magnetism, light and optics.  We have a lot to cover, so make sure to stay on top of your reading and homework.  The "Course Links" will send you to more details about the course.  The one to check on a regular basis (as in a few times a week) is "Course News and Handouts".  This is where I will keeps a running list (blog style) of messages to you and post information for you.  Physics can be a difficult subject for many people.  Our department has several resources outside of lecture to help you be successful.

Student Resources:

  • The tutoring room (across from Lewis 101).  Graduate students are there to help you understand concepts (NOT to do your homework for you!).  There is someone there many hours of the day and it's FREE!
  • My office hours.  Make good use of these.  If you come and see me when you are confused or having trouble, I know you are trying and can get you pointed in the right direction.
  • Recitation Sessions.  We will have 1 recitation session each week in which a graduate student will work example problems and step you through the solutions in a lecture style format.  The days and times are TBA.
