ATTENDANCE is required.  A grade of zero is given for each lab missed. In case of illness or unavoidable absence, contact Beth Roberts, Room 202, as soon as possible.

Preparation:  Read over lab procedures and understand necessary calculations before class.  Complete pre-labs.  For extra information about the lab you may refer to the following web addresses:

PRE-LAB (10 pt.)  Due at the beginning of class.  This is an individual, not team, effort.  Duplication will result in a grade of zero for all participants.  The average Pre-Lab grade will count as 2 report grades.

LAB REPORT  - (10 pt.)  Due at the beginning of each class.  You must write an individual report.  The grade for a duplicate report is zero for each person involved.  The required format is attached.  All reports must be typed, double-spaced, 12 font.  All equations may be neatly hand written.  Grading: General: Format, grammar, spelling, concise communication of concepts and theory, proper use of terminology.  As the questions at the end of each experiment are fundamental to the concepts of that experiment, they are worth 1 point each.

FINAL EXAM  - Comprehensive practical exam.  You must know how to set up and perform each experiment on your own, as well as verify your ability to properly use the equipment.  An equation sheet will be provided.

GRADING  -  I use a 10-pt. scale.  9.0 A;  8.0 B;  7.0 C;  6.0 D;  <6.0 F

Lab reports: 80%,  Lab Participation/Lab Notebook: 5%,  Final exam: 15%
