We are offering an astronomy open house in Kennon Observatory at Ole
Miss this Friday (March 23), 7:45 pm to 10 pm.

We will be observing Venus (it goes down soon after sunset though),
then the Moon and Saturn; the Pleiades, the Praesape (also called
"The Manger") and the Orion Nebula; as well as a few colorful double
stars.

The telescope in the large dome is out of operation (the machine shop
is working on the tracking motor). We will use the telescopes in the
parking lot to see all these objects.

Observations are possible only if the weather cooperates. In case of
cloudy sky we'll offer physics demonstrations in the laboratory.

Families and children are welcome, the event is free!
