SOME HIGHLIGHTS OF THE UMISS HEP GROUP

1) Students received their M.S. and Ph.D. degrees.

2) Funding increased from $65K/yr.(1989) to $615K/yr(1996).

3) Established 3000 MIP computer "farm". Completed E791 reconstruction; processed more data than any other group.

4) Charter member of SSC detector groups L-star and GEM; Site of prototype fabrication of hadron calorimeter; co-edited the GEM TDR.

5) Charter member of BaBar collaboration; wrote sections of the BaBar LOI and TDR; assigned responsibility for radiation damage studies and design and fabrication of calorimeter components.

6) US-CMS HCAL charter member; funded for R&D in the hadron calorimeter, tracking and trigger programs.

7) Established Low Dose Irradiation Facility - only one in the country.

8) Authored or co-authored numerous papers in refereed journals.

9) Authored or co-authored over 50 technical reports.

10) Gave over ten invited talks at national/international meetings.

11) Presented over 40 seminars and contributed papers.

12) Chaired HEP sessions at national meetings.

13) Co-hosted 4 SAHEP Gulf Shores HEP meeting.

14) Hosted E791 Workshop; published proceedings.
