The Moon and the planets

We attempted to take CCD pictures of the Moon and the planets Saturn and Jupiter.

Our purpose was mainly to learn what equipment works best in our circumstances, so the pictures are do not all look very pretty.

A full account is available here.

A few of the pictures are here though:

Student: Katherine Pittman

Telescope: Meade 12 in at f/10 (f=120in) in the parking lot.

Camera: SBIG ST-5C CCD

Exposures:

Jupiter: 5 best frames were selected from a hundred 0.01-sec exposures in red, green and blue.

Moon: 5 best frames were selected from a hundred 0.01-sec clear exposures.
